PA Man Who Killed MD Girlfriend Was On Parole For 2004 Murder

A Pennsylvania man on parole for a 2004 killing was wanted by authorities for assaulting his girlfriend, who he shot and killed her on Christmas in Maryland then fled to West Virginia, authorities said.

Justin Kyle Marshall, 34, of Greencastle, shot Tristen Shifflet, 37, in the neck on South Burhans Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. in Hagerstown, local police said. Shifflet was rushed to Meritus Medical Center, where she died.

Marshall fled to Berkeley County WV, and was arrest around 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 26, by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department. He had an active arrest warrant through Pennsylvania State Police for assault in a separate incident involving Shifflet. 

 Marshall had also been convicted of 2nd degree murder in 2004 in a Hagerstown homicide (non domestic related). He had been out of prison for approximately 2 years.

The couple's young child was taken into custody by Washington County Child Protective Services.

Marshall was charged with first-degree murder and multiple other related offenses.
